Wedding Tosses - Elegant & Beautiful to Throw

8 January 2007 No Comment

Many things have changed with weddings. Traditionally rice was thrown over the bride and groom. This symbolized fertility and a round-tins-filled-with-blue-and-white-bath-confettilong life. But rice is a nuisance to clean up. Many churches and halls started to ban the “nuptial throw” due to its mess. It never seemed to be completely gone.

Then someone thought it would be helpful and environmentally acceptable to throw bird seed. How could you go wrong? The birds would eat it and there would be no need to clean anything up. But that idea went awry as well when the churches started to complain about the weeds from the seeds that were not eaten by our feathery friends.

Confetti posed much the same problem as rice. It was a nightmare to clean up.

So what are today’s brides requesting instead. One of the more beautiful wedding tosses are beautiful wedding petals. They may come in fresh and freeze dried and are most commonly rose petals.

Wedding tosses made of rose petals are so much more elegant and stunning than the traditional rice and later substitutes. Also, the bride can match her wedding colors, as well as match the general theme and colors of the wedding party flowers.

Further, wedding petals may be used:

  • to throw at the bride and groom,
  • to pave a lovely walkway down the aisle for the bride,
  • to make centerpieces on the wedding cake table,
  • and to create general adornments for just about anything at the wedding ceremony and reception.
