Ecoism, saving the environment and recycling have been societal buzzwords for some time now. But do you ever wonder how the eco-friendly trend relates to the wedding industry, specifically planning a wedding. Most people cannot even grasp the true nature of being environmentally conscious when it comes to planning a wedding. Ecoism, however, is very much a part of today’s wedding planning process and this site will discuss areas in which one can have a beautiful wedding while at the same time respecting the earth on which we live.

Commonly known as “eco-friendly weddings”, “green weddings”, “ethical weddings”, “socially conscious weddings”, “ecological weddings”, “responsible weddings” and “environmental weddings”, these terms refer to the act of having a wedding ceremony and party that foster clean living practices. For example, when holding a garden reception, instead of using plastic, disposable plates and utensils, couples are opting for biodegradable eating utensils, which are made from corn starch and hence, compostable.

Indeed, there are many ways in which a couple can contribute to saving the environment and still hold a lavish wedding ceremony and reception. Recycled and earth-friendly wedding products are appearing everyday in the way of wedding day apparel, lingerie, invitations, wedding throws, bridal shower gifts, travel, jewelry, wedding favors and decorations. In fact, many environmentally conscious couples will not deal with professional wedding planners who do not agree to find eco-friendly vendors.

While it may seem like an insurmountable task to understand all the aspects of an eco-friendly wedding, in trying to learn and do the right thing, couples are asking:
a) what products are safe,
b) where to find suppliers,
c) how far should they go,
d) and how much more will this cost.

Therefore, the purpose of this section will help to highlight answers to the most asked questions when planning an eco-friendly wedding.
